Our Team
Aaron Read: I am an environmental studies major, with a concentration in sustainable communities. I am interested in preserving and exploring the natural world, getting the youth involved in some capacity with nature, and interacting with my local community to figure out what can be improved and how I fit into that equation. My role in this project has been to reach out to government volunteers and use their knowledge and connections to create a safer and more practical layout on Echo Avenue here in Seaside. It feels great to make a difference and actually be able to see it come to fruition.
Emily Jackson: As an environmental studies major, with a concentration in sustainable communities, I am interested in promoting creative solutions to create sustainable cities. Never one to stick with the status quo, I was instantly drawn to the innovative ways tactical urbanism could reshape Seaside. I am the creative lead in the Seaside Tactical Urbanism project using the knowledge gathered by my peers to design our parklet, crosswalks, and crosswalk extensions.
Iris Espinoza: I am an environmental studies major, with a concentration in environmental education. I am interested in working in my community through non-profit organizations. My hope is to engage kids and help them develop a holistic appreciation for our environment and the many wonderful animals that depend on it. My role in this project is to reach out to multiple sponsors and artists who can participate in our project as well as translate the information we are sharing with the public to have a more inclusive event where the latino community of Seaside can feel well informed.
Jack Martin: I am an environmental studies major, with a concentration in sustainable communities. I am interested in animals, the environment, and how the two interact. Nico Di Jerlando: I am an environmental studies major, with a concentration in sustainable communities. I find interest in forming sustainable communities for all members of the community in a fun and educational way. Our Seaside Tactical Urbanism Capstone project seeks to achieve this. My input is as a sponsorship liaison. This position requires me to reach out to potential businesses who may be able to help us with resources and or funding for our event, coordinate with peers on finding vendors, and aiding in the completion of our community event.
